When you enjoy a fresh cup of shade-grown coffee, you are supporting a more sustainable way of growing coffee that benefits not only the farmers growing the coffee but the environment as well. Shade-grown coffee has been shown to promote greater biodiversity, prevent soil erosion, inhibit the occurrence of harmful fungal diseases that affect coffee plants, and capture and sequester carbon from the atmosphere. It is especially beneficial to birds, as shade-grown coffee farms encourage the increase of bird species in an area, attract migratory species, and create a rich habitat for them. For every bag of our Hummingbird Blend that is purchased, we donate 50 cents to the Trust for Wildlife, a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the habitats that birds and other wildlife depend on.
